Modelware Systems is a company that exists to increase data sophistication levels. The heart of Modelware is to help people in businesses, through training and consulting, by ensuring the business’ data is trusted, understood, accurate, presented and used in a meaningful, secure, and consistent manner.

Our mission is to support businesses and organizations by providing training on collecting, organising, interpreting, and using data correctly through successful customer engagements. Through these successful engagements, we enhance the value, quality, security, understanding and successful usage of business data by providing our clients with customized solutions made up of advisory, learning, consulting, and mentoring engagements.
History, Expansion, and Growth
Modelware Systems has been through two journeys. The company was initially conceived in 1997, when Howard Diesel, his brother Ross, and Savvas Neophytou, realised that data models could be a cool product. The Diesel brothers also got into innovative development.
The company was bought out in 1998 by Peregrine Holdings and run as Peregrine Systems. During this time, they won a Microsoft Award for Best Digital Dashboard.
The current period started in 2003 when Howard bought the company back from Peregrine. Modelware Systems was based in Germiston then and focussed on development and support. Many young developers and DBAs learned their skills from Howard at that time.
It was during that time that Howard found himself increasingly involved in data management projects, from data warehousing, business intelligence and analytics, eventually culminating in the long-term data governance engagement at the South African Reserve Bank.
Howard and Veronica also became involved in resuscitating DAMA SA. The experience of imparting knowledge and helping DAMA members advance their careers ignited their passion for training and professional development, leading to a growing portfolio of courses.
Who have we worked with?
Modelware Systems clients are primarily the financial institutions, although we have some state entities as well as retail. We have trained in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi Data and AI Authority and provided consulting services for the MODON NDMO P1 Submission project.
