From the poll results, we can see that many of the votes indicated a desire to understand the journey. I have put together a quick visual display of the journey. Please contact us to chat about your path and how we can help?

We have built the career path to the top of Mount Everest where the view and challenge are out of this world (beautiful).

How do we get to the top of the mountain?

Once you have decided to embark on this amazing journey, we enter the TREK phase.

The TREK starts with an assessment to get an understanding of the path that you would like to travel. We work with Psychographic Data & Cognitive Assessments that are linked to Data Management Complexity of Work definitions.

The trek is to base camp and it prepares you for the CDMP Data Management Fundamentals Exam. We really like the use of the 3-2-1 formula for learning and development (3 units out of 6 units is time spent on-the-job application of Data Management Concepts, 2 out 6 is time spent in formalizing your knowledge and 1 out 6 is time spent doing specialized training to ensure you understanding new concepts with detailed How-To training).

The next part of the journey is from Base Camp to Khumbu Glacier where we write the Specialist 1 CDMP Exam.

There are several options for this exam, and we prefer the supporting specialization to be tackled first. Data Governance is a fantastic support exam for most of the other knowledge areas as it lays the foundation and planning of each knowledge area.

Some other helpful Knowledge Area combinations are:

  1. Data Modelling for Data Architecture

  2. Data Quality for Reference & Master Data

  3. Reference & Master Data for Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence

  4. Business Intelligence and Big Data & Data Science

Now we move onto Camp 2 where we prepare you for the second CDMP exam. This will make use of Case Studies and Practical work to make it more meaningful and relevant to you & your business. At this stage you have completed all the components of the Certified Data Management Professional certification and its time to dig deeper.

Depending on your area of specialization, an appropriate industry specific exam like the Data Modelling Certification Exam is selected and we start the journey of preparing for that. Again, this preparation takes on the form of 3-2-1. After completion of this certification we move onto to what is probably the most important the preparation of a Business Case-Study.

A business case-study is perfect for Local & International Conference submissions that are always very interested to hear how you have addressed business challenges with Data Management techniques.

And from here it is the final summit, presenting and getting feedback at the chosen conference.

This experience is not to be underestimated and considered to be “too expensive” or “too much”. The critical feedback and engagements are very beneficial to your career.
